30/05/2025: Très bon accueil, personnel très agréable et disponible. Repas faits maison, délicieux et copieux. Cela mérite d’emprunter la voie sans issue pour y aller.

29/05/2025: After a long day of hiking in Madeira, our group of 14 arrived at Restaurant Gale around 6:40 PM, extremely hungry and hopeful for a pleasant dinner. We had previously tried another restaurant that told us dinner would only be served after 7 PM, so we were relieved when Gale confirmed they were already serving dinner. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere felt odd – only one table was occupied indoors, and although we needed a large outdoor table for all of us, the staff agreed to accommodate us. We were given menus and shortly after informed that certain key dishes, including octopus (which most of us had wanted), were unavailable. Disappointed but famished, we decided to order other items. We were told food would take about 40 minutes because "everything is fresh." While the wait seemed a bit long, we accepted it, assuming at least starters would arrive in the meantime. Unfortunately, this was not the case. The only thing we received in the first 30 minutes was some bread( from our order , not for free :) .Meanwhile, young children's —presumably the owner’s—were crying and screaming incessantly inside and outside , making it impossible to relax. After an hour, no starters, no drinks (other than a small local wine sample), and no sign of our main meals. Still, we remained patient and polite, albeit growing increasingly frustrated and exhausted. At the 2 hour and 40-minute mark, I finally asked about the starters, pointing out that a “starter” should not arrive hours into a meal. Only then did some food begin to appear, but not for everyone. Throughout this entire period, we were the only customers for most of the evening—except for two individuals who came, ordered, ate, and left before we even received our food. The final dishes arrived a shocking 3 hours and 10 minutes after ordering. The quality was appalling: -A seafood rice dish came in a pot of watery liquid, the rice was undercooked, and it was virtually tasteless. -A carbonara was inexplicably served with olives. -Three portions of calamari were ordered, but only two arrived. -Tuna, ordered with potatoes, arrived with rice and beef gravy – an awful mismatch for fish. And the list could continue The worst part? The so-called chef, who turned out to be the owner’s father, eventually came to our table and admitted he was alone in the kitchen because the staff had just left. In fact, we had seen them sitting nearby, smoking – clearly not in a rush to help if was need it . If the kitchen was understaffed, why didn’t anyone tell us before taking our order? Why they have been that greedy just to get money for 14th people but horrible service ? To top off the entire ordeal, despite the disastrous service, excessive wait time, and dreadful food, the owner refused to offer any discount whatsoever. They charged us fully, without a hint of apology or goodwill. This was without a doubt one of the worst dining experiences we’ve ever had – a complete lack of professionalism, organisation, and basic respect for customers. Avoid this place at all costs. If we could give zero stars, we would. Unfortunately we lost our temper to make some photos /videos

16/05/2025: Tasca con pochi coperti (circa 15), atmosfera intima e accogliente, proprio come piace a me. Il locale ti avvolge con il suo calore e la sua semplicità, e ti fa sentire subito a casa. Il pesce era freschissimo, cucinato in modo autentico e presentato con cura. Ogni piatto parlava della vera cucina portoghese. A rendere tutto ancora più speciale, il titolare: simpaticissimo, alla mano e sempre con il sorriso. Un posto che consiglio davvero a chi cerca autenticità e qualità, lontano dai soliti giri turistici. Nota di merito finale: la mousse al cioccolato è semplicemente eccezionale!

15/02/2025: Liguei a tentar efetuar uma reserva para o próprio dia, qual o meu espanto quando me respondem que deveria ser uma piada, e desligaram o telemóvel.

13/06/2025: Bem haja ao Sr. Nelson e equipa por fazerem deste lugar único no Porto. Francesinha irrepreensível molho no ponto certo. Nunca desilude.

26/06/2025: Chegamos para visitar o Palácio Nacional de Queluz por volta da hora do almoço. Onde almoçar? Por indicação de um residente local, acabamos por chegar no restaurante Ao Monte, no centro da cidade. A primeira impressão foi de um lugar simples e bastante típico. Mas, a boa surpresa veio de dois fatos: a simpatia cativante do seu proprietário, Sr. Jorge, que faz questão de tratar pessoalmente de todos os seus clientes e a excelente qualidade da comida e do vinho sugerido. Quando pedimos Bacalhau a Bracarense, o Sr. Jorge prontamente arrematou: “Eu já sabia!!!” Comida excelente, ambiente típico e sem frescuras. Recomendo.

21/02/2025: Uma funcionária de mesa muito atenciosa e simpática. Couvert simples, com manteiga de sabor duvidoso. Sangria de frutos vermelhos (2 litros) praticamente sem álcool tal era o grau de diluição... Dois bifes "Ao Monte" claramente deslavados, sem sabor ou qualquer tempero. Ovo estrelado rebentado. Molho a acompanhar de pura manteiga, também sem qualquer sabor adicional. Duas refeições feitas em final de expediente a "despachar". No meu parecer dirigido ao dono referi que a refeição não estava boa e que hoje seria um dia mau por parte da cozinha. Afirmou, com alguma altivez, que a refeição seria de excelência e nunca ninguém se tinha queixado. Como estava perto da cozinha consegui também ouvir alguns comentários ao meu reparo. Em suma uma refeição horrível e cara, paga na íntegra (apesar da indicação muito amável da funcionária de que não teria de pagar os bifes, fiz questão de o fazer). Já conhecia este restaurante e sempre gostei... até ontem. Era de facto um dia mau (todos temos) mas a arrogância do dono faz com que escreva esta crítica e não volte lá mais.

06/08/2025: O pão acabou, comida humilde, estava mais. Atendimento aceitável. Tempo de espera o normal, no entanto o restaurante estava com pouca gente.

02/08/2025: Tuvimos un desayuno encantador en este restaurante dulce. Personal muy amable y servicial. Todos los panes y pasteles hechos en las instalaciones. Las 3 damas en la cocina, sirvieron deliciosa comida. Abierto para desayuno, brunch y almuerzo. Domingos cerrados
