One of our regrets in our week-long stay in Funchal was not visiting the Taj Mahal for a second time. We wanted to go on Monday, but the restaurant is closed that day. The Taj Mahal is a clean and inviting establishment. As the name indicates, Indian culinary specialties are offered. My wife and I both enjoyed our dishes. The appetizer that stands out is the Taj Mahal’s Piri Piri Shrimp. It is not too spicy, but very delicious. I took a picture of it which I included with this post. Enjoy.

We had a super evening here with family and friends. The staff were excellent and the food was delicious. We had some nice wine to wash very tasty curries down!

15/12/2024: Our go to place for a curry when in Funchal. Love how quiet and secluded the terrace is. The food is exceptional with both food and drinks reasonably priced. I have been in here 15 times in the last few years and never had anything less than amazing food and service. Ryan is a credit to the business with his professionalism waitering.
15/09/2024: Just wow! This was Indian food at its best. The paneer ticka was incredible. We also had the aubergine curry. As for the peshwari naan, well I’ve never tasted one that good.

31/12/2024: We visit this restaurant every year we come to Madeira and are made to feel very welcome by the staff and owner.The food is excellent and the staff 100% go out their way to make your meal enjoyable.Well worth a visit.
