Wir sind jedes Jahr in der Altstadt unterwegs und kehren immer im O.Giro ein. Die Churros sind Klasse! Aber auch die anderen Snacks sind super.

Returned here again for a lunchtime snack and drinks. It has got really popular - maybe lots of cruise ships. Arrive at noon when they open to be sure of a table. Friendly service, great prices and an extended menu now with salads. Not sure how they can cook it all in the tiny kitchen, fascinating to watch, and the food comes out promptly.

29/10/2024: My wife & recently had a meal at La Vaca Negra which we had booked a table in advance, we had to change our booking as we were delayed which was no problem for them even though when we arrived the restaurant was full. The service was excellent and the steaks were cooked exactly as we ordered, Rump for my wife and Sirloin for myself, the wine we chose was the house red at €18:50 which was excellent. We would recommend this restaurant, but book in advance.
27/10/2024: Excellent choice of cuts. The ribeyes again were cooked to perfection. Super friendly service. Good wine list. Recommend booking we did for our second visit which was exceptional as always

13/01/2025: Locals and tourists alike enjoying a drink, mainly al fresco on small tables and stools in the alley/street. Traditional ,"rustic" atmosphere. Reasonable prices. Complimentary monkey nuts Clean toilet Worth the queue.
24/12/2024: Tuvimos una oportunidad increíble de visitar Madeira dos veces en el mismo año, nos alojamos en el mismo hotel a poca distancia de Rei la Poncha y no hace falta decir que después de la increíble visita de mayo volvimos una vez más durante diciembre = excelentes ponchas, pero sobre todo es el ambiente de este lugar, te sientes como si fueras "parte de algo más grande" que solo beber ponchas - tiene este ambiente único que no se puede describir, tienes que experimentarlo en el lugar para entender. Es sólo efectivo, pero precios muy razonables. Además, ten paciencia ya que tienen una cantidad limitada de mesas y este lugar es súper popular - vale la pena. También tienen algo de comida, pero los cacahuetes + ponchas de cortesía es todo lo que uno necesita para ser feliz!
