Cris's Place em Funchal

I have visited the restaurant at least 20 times. This time there were some complications when I wanted to extend my already reserved table for four people to five people. Unfortunately, this was not possible using the TheFork app. They couldn't find my reservation by phone at first. After lengthy discussions, we were only given a seat outside the restaurant. It was a real shame. The quality of the food was good as always.

This will be a regular return venue for us. Although a regular Madeira visitor over the last 30 years, this was our first visit to Chris’ Place. We took a taxi from our Cliff Bay hotel to avoid the hard walk up the very steep hill to the restaurant, It is bright, airy and well appointed inside. The service was excellent. They offer a menu deal of 3 courses plus wine but we didn’t take it as we only normally do one or two courses. As it happens, we would have been better off if we had taken the deal and only had two courses. The food was excellent and we were surprised at the unusual presentation of the food on the plates. It is often said that we eat with our eyes and I have to say that Chris’s food presentation was rather special. We both had sea food and fish and enjoyed a local white wine with it. It cost around 60 euro a head but for the quality of the food, environment and service that was very good value.This will be a regular spot for us on all future visits.

We called in for our annual visit at this lovely restaurant and were greeted by Beatrice and Roberto who looked after us so very well There is a fixed price menu for €57.5 which includes three courses of fantastic food plus all your wine, water and beer There is an excellent choice on the menu and everything is cooked and presented to perfection I have no hesitation in recommending this wonderful restaurant and very much look forward to our next exercises Thank you very much indeed
