18/11/2024: Had a fabulous meal in Franco's corner. Food and service was excellent.Would highly recommend a visit here. Tried the green wine for the first time, it was lovely.

16/11/2024: It's always fabulous to go back to Franco's. Great food, great wine and great service in a lovely environment. The garlic prawns are always delicious and it's always difficult to pick our favourite main. Dessert has to be a chocolate duo.

03/02/2025: We spent a week in Funchal, eating in a different restaurant each night. All (except one) of the restaurants were great but our favourite was Casal da Penha. The service was very welcoming and friendly, the atmosphere warm and the food and wine were delicious. We started with avocado with shrimps, followed by amberjack and a selection of vegetables. We tried to go back for dinner a second time, but the restaurant was fully booked, so we recommend booking in advance!

28/01/2025: Dejlig mad og et hyggeligt sted som jeg vil anbefale at man prøver. Betjeningen ok - men i begyndelse havde tjeneren lidt for at se til. Udbud af vin var godt - og god vejledning.

13/02/2025: O restaurante oferece boa comida a preços razoáveis, com uma aconchegante vista para o mar. O garçom parecia um pouco pouco entusiasmado e às vezes incomodado com a presença de clientes. Mas apesar de tudo, um bom destino para um almoço ou uma bebida.

02/02/2025: Sowohl draußen mit Blick aufs Meer, als auch drinnen ist das Ambiente sehr ansprechend. Die Servicekräfte sind freundlich und aufmerksam. Das vegetarische Gericht war reichlich und bei der Lammhaxe fiel das Fleisch vom Knochen.

12/02/2025: Es war rundum ein perfekter Abend. Schon der Empfang war herzlich, und das Essen hat dem ganzen noch die Krone aufgesetzt. Service Team und Küchenteam hatten offensichtlich Spaß an der Arbeit und haben diesen Abend wirklich zu etwas besonderem gemacht. Wir hatten das feste Menu und kamen voll und ganz auf unsere Kosten. 17/02/2025: Comida horrível, me surpreende como você consegue cozinhar tão mal. O garçom foi agressivo e nos sentimos como se estivéssemos em uma fábrica, na verdade a soma da fábrica combina com a atmosfera, lixo caro. Nunca mais!!!

Ein kleiner Wermutstropfen waren die Pommes, die leider etwas lapprig waren und nicht ganz unseren Erwartungen entsprachen. Das lokale Bier, das wir dazu genossen, war jedoch eine echte Entdeckung und sehr lecker – eine absolute Empfehlung! Ein Punkt, der uns jedoch negativ aufgefallen ist, war die Sauberkeit der Toiletten. Leider waren seit zwei Tagen die Papierhandtücher leer, was in einem Restaurant dieser Klasse nicht sein sollte. Daher müssen wir in diesem Punkt leider einen Stern abziehen. Insgesamt war es ein schöner Abend mit köstlichem Essen und exzellentem Service, und wir würden das Restaurant Capitão auf jeden Fall weiterempfehlen!

17/12/2024: Wir haben das Restaurant zum wiederholten Male besucht. Wir sind jedes Mal fasziniert von dem Ambiente, dem sehr aufmerksamen, freundlichen, charmanten Service. Immer eine kleine feine Speisekarte, welche immer wieder mal geändert wird. Das Essen wieder perfekt, gute Weinempfehlung. Einfach spitze. Sehr gutes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis

26/01/2025: We stumbled across this restaurant, and called in as it was very busy in comparison to other restaurants that were quiet. It was frequented by both locals and tourists. Service was very efficient and tables served and turned around quickly. We had 2 portions of garlic prawns, a portion of fries and the typical bread - very generous portions and delicious. Excellent value at just 23 euros. Would recommend visiting if you are in the area.

25/11/2024: Came because of the good reviews, but unfortunately, the food wasn't to the standard we expected, quite disappointed. When we mentioned we weren't happy with the food, they seemed unable to handle criticism. Unfortunately , we won't be returning, shame.
