11/01/2025: We returned in the hope that the news that Olives had closed was wrong But unfortunately is was true. Such a loss and we wish Chef and his Brother an enjoyable retirement Such a shame we did not visit sooner

06/12/2024: In fact we came twice - once with friends and the 2nd week of our holiday with family. The 2nd trip included 2 children and a baby. The staff made us very welcome and made a fuss of the young ones. The food and service were excellent; something for everyone - a vegan, a vegetarian, meat eaters and the children enjoyed the food too. Two special meals. We'll be back if we visit Funchal again.
