Taberna Madeira em Funchal

Friendly welcome, helpful advice on the menu - we chose 2 “portions” (tuna with peppers, and beef with mushrooms & fries) plus 2 sides (sweet potato and vegetables). We also each had a glass of very acceptable red wine, and they brought us bread and olives to nibble while we waited for our food. The tuna was delicious, perfectly cooked, as was the beef. We particularly enjoyed the sweet potato which was mashed with shredded dark green cabbage. The vegetables were cabbage and carrots which we were less keen on, and we probably could have done without as there was more that enough food for the two of us (we aren’t big eaters). We had booked for 6.30 and there were already a few occupied tables, and it quickly became busy after 7, which gave the restaurant a great atmosphere. I would recommend it, although beware! They don’t take credit cards. The bill was extremely reasonable however, so it didn’t deplete our cash resources too much.

Heerlijk gegeten. Ober geeft fijn advies en met veel humor! Porties vrij groot. Broodjes met knoflook boter en olijven zijn van het huis en erg lekker. Er wordt aangeraden om 4 dingen te kiezen om te delen, maar 3 was ook genoeg. Nu geen plek meer voor een toetje 🧁
