We had the best meal of our holiday at Fernando’s. Started off with bolo do caco which was very tasty, followed by the scabbard fish with banana which was amazing! So full of flavour, presented beautifully and a generous portion. Poncha was great too (and made with rum, not vodka - like in many tourist trap restaurants). We will definitely come back to Fernando’s when we visit Madeira next time.

This is a nice spot in the center of the city but away from the noise of the traffic. We ordered espetada and beef. Portions were gorgeous. The food was good, although we found some better places but much further away from the city centre. So, if you are hungry in the town—this is a very good option!

25/10/2024: Serveur professionnel et attentif . Le buffet à 8 euros est impeccable. Tout est frais et il y a des spécialités de madère .
06/09/2024: Fomos servidos por um senhor muito simpático, não tivemos que esperar muito pela comida e estava perfeitamente bem. Tivemos uma refeição deliciosa e barata, definitivamente recomendada!

The Rose Garden

12/09/2024: Had dinner twice at the Rose Garden. While I still prefer the former buffet service I am clearly in a minority as the revamped Rose Garden with a choice from the menu is incredibly popular. Food is excellent and service very good. Definitely more of a restaurant for residents of the Cliff Bay hotel rather than holiday makers that call in from the street. Booking is pretty much essential - even for hotel residents.
08/09/2024: We dined at the rose garden during a stay at the Cliff Bay Hotel. We sat outside and enjoyed a really lovely 3 course menu. The staff were very attentive and knowledgeable. The restaurant has been re decorated which makes it extra special and relaxing. Well worth a visit.
