Snack-Bar Imperador em Funchal

17/11/2024: WE stumbled on this place while trying to avoid paying restaurant street prices for a simple lunch. The locals seem to know about it because a number of them came here for meals and we could see why. We had the delicious Portuguese sausage with salad and chips and a beer and barely paid E20 for both meals added together and we were even given a free appetiser of the famous local black scabbard fish which was delicious. Outside seating just added to the atmosphere, we were practically the only tourists there and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Toilets were clean and well kept, service was good and the food was well cooked. We would definitely suggest dropping in here for lunch where you get a taste of the real Funchal not tourist fare.
