If you are looking for great food, friendly atmosphere with live music you can’t beat Bruno’s. We have been coming here for over 10 years and never been disappointed. We are not easy to feed. I am vegetarian and my wife is Gluten Free and there is always a good selection. Friday Saturday and Sunday seem to be the main nights for the live music. On one night they have the most famous guitarist/musician in Madeira playing his guitar. Ask for Hotel California, it is a delight. Bruno and his staff are the most friendly and efficient people I have ever met, they make the evening a joy. If your hotel is away from the restaurant he even provides a pick-up service. The vegetarian menu is the best I have found on Madeira and is so tasty. Don’t lose out, I would say give it a try. Most nights it’s really buzzing, so enjoyable.

After being recommended by a few people, and the very good TripAdvisor reviews. We decided to eat here. One of ours meals should have been chicken with garlic, but it came with pineapple and bacon. I ordered filet beef skewers with fried maize and vegetables, but it came with chips and spinach. They did bring out the fried maize after I informed them. Some of the filet beef skewers were extremely chewy. We had to ask for the bill three times. They did give us complimentary drinks when the bill arrived.

Empfehlenswertes Restaurant. Schönes Ambiente, leckeres Essen was zudem schön angerichtet serviert wird. Guter Service und sehr nettes Personal. Wir kommen wieder!

02/10/2024: Zeer lekker gegeten aan een correcte prijs. Super vriendelijke bediening en een gezellige sfeer. We zouden zeker terugkomen als we in Funchal zijn.
30/09/2024: What a joy! Everything about this place was fantastic from the super friendly and helpful staff to the food and drink. We had such a great evening here. The fish (scabbard fish) was excellent and the wine was so good. The service was speedy but didn’t feel rushed and there was a very rapid turnover of tables with locals and visitors alike. Always a good thing I think in a place with lots of tourists. Really good prices for great quality food. The desserts were heavenly- the tricky bit is choosing. Had to have a glass of Madeira as well and finished off with a Tim Tam Tum! Go if you get the chance when you’re in Funchal! Well be back!!

Restaurante Embaixador Madeirense

23/08/2024: Great spot on the corner of Rua de Santa Maria and Rua dos Barreiros for people watching and watching cars come down the narrow cobblestone street. I stopped here for lunch and had their EUR 12,50 lunch menu which came with a starter soup, choice of protein (mostly fish options and pork chops) and plenty of sides (squash, rice, chick peas, pineapple, olives and cabbage). The food was tasty, and more importantly, the service was great. The gentleman who served me was friendly and attentive to me and my dining neighbours. When I went to use the toilet another staff member from the back of house made sure I found the light switch. The meal was completed with a small shot of Madeira wine. Overall I recommend for the good service and great value for money, especially in the middle of a very tourist heavy area. I left very full and satisfied.
