Local Bar Madeira em Funchal

Sporting memorabilia covers the walls and ceiling of this bar and it's fun looking for your team's flag. There is always a football match on tv too. Can't really comment on the food, we only had a bowls of chips one night but the drinks are really cheap and served by people who make you feel very welcome. It's very basic but this was always our choice for last drink of the night, they make a good poncha! The reason for only 4 stars? The toilets are dire!

We arrived too early for a dinner reservation around the corner and decided to pop into this bar for some pre-dinner drinks. We are glad we did. The welcome was warm and very friendly. The place is decorated in sports memorabilia covering most of the big football teams. The drinks were very reasonble compared with London prices. We didn't have any food, but looking at the snack menu it offered a keenly priced steak sandwich at 3.5 euros!
