Came for lunch a couple of days running while staying in Funchal . Great atmosphere with the local band playing nearby. Service was quick and friendly, the first day I had the fillet steak served on a hot stone, which was great. The second day I had the steak kebab ( I know it’s called something else in Portuguese) but it was tough and dry. Maybe not the best food in the world but just sit back and soak up the atmosphere !

Apolo is located down a side street from the cathedral along with a number of other restaurants offering outside seating. It has a good selection of bottled beers and I really enjoyed the American IPA, such a change from the usual Coral. The vinho verde wine was also good. To eat we had fillet beef skewers and chicken skewers which were extremely good and came with some great fries. Service was very good and we had nothing to complain about although it was a bit chilly in the wind because the seating was in the shade.

11/11/2025: Localizado perto da entrada do teleférico de Punsal. Uma bola de sorvete custa 3 euros. Comprei no carrinho de sorvetes do lado de fora do restaurante, mas pude comê-lo lá dentro. Há banheiros disponíveis.

Café do Teatro

05/05/2026: Viemos aqui para experimentar o peixe com molho de banana. A comida estava ótima e adoramos o atendimento. Além disso, não tivemos problemas para conseguir uma mesa às 16h e não esperamos muito pela comida.
25/04/2026: O dono é extremamente simpático e acolhedor. Recomendo-o vivamente.
