Came for lunch a couple of days running while staying in Funchal . Great atmosphere with the local band playing nearby. Service was quick and friendly, the first day I had the fillet steak served on a hot stone, which was great. The second day I had the steak kebab ( I know it’s called something else in Portuguese) but it was tough and dry. Maybe not the best food in the world but just sit back and soak up the atmosphere !

Apolo is located down a side street from the cathedral along with a number of other restaurants offering outside seating. It has a good selection of bottled beers and I really enjoyed the American IPA, such a change from the usual Coral. The vinho verde wine was also good. To eat we had fillet beef skewers and chicken skewers which were extremely good and came with some great fries. Service was very good and we had nothing to complain about although it was a bit chilly in the wind because the seating was in the shade.

03/03/2026: A COMIDA estava deliciosa, as porções eram de tamanho médio, os preços também eram médios, o garçom foi atencioso, ofereceu pratos adicionais e alertou sobre peculiaridades de sabor, sugerindo uma alternativa. ATENDIMENTO. Não havia muitos clientes, mas mesmo assim os funcionários estavam muito ocupados, seguindo o exemplo de outros clientes, às vezes esquecendo do pedido ou não percebendo a solicitação imediatamente. AMBIENTE. Música ao vivo, salão agradável e limpo. Cadeiras confortáveis, cheiro agradável. ANEXO: Há um banheiro, limpo, com cheiro agradável, tudo o que você precisa, sem necessidade de moedas ou fichas. Os garçons são bem vestidos e simpáticos.
28/01/2026: Sopa de tomate e entrada muito saborosas. O atendimento foi muito simpático e profissional. A decoração não é das mais modernas, mas estávamos lá para visitar o restaurante, não para admirar o interior. 🙂 Recomendo sem dúvida! 👍
