Great food and service. Reasonably priced. The only downside is its location next to the road so eating outside was sometimes noisy.

Found this gem in a back street just behind our apartment. We ended up going there 3 times during our week stay in Funchal and especially out last evening meal. Great family run restaurant with superb staff, food and prices. A complimentary glass of Madeira after the meal. Totally recommended.

Golden Gate Grand Café

29/10/2024: We only called in for drinks after visiting the old town. Service was a little slow but I think that was due to us sitting on the side of the cafe. When we were served the staff were pleasant and we enjoyed sitting in the sun with our drinks, we were also fortunate to have a very good busker giving us entertainment. We would certainly return.
26/10/2024: Eine institution, die man besucht haben sollte. Guter Kaffee und der apfelkuchen war top. Kann man nichts meckern... Wir waren gerne dort.
