Restaurante Genuíno em Horta

28/09/2024: This place does not accept reservations so we arrived when the restaurant opened. The air conditioning had not been on, so the restaurant was very hot inside. There were others waiting to get in as well, but since it was late September, the restaurant was not full. For starters we had the gaspacho of the day which was cucumber gaspacho. It was delicious. We the catch of the day which was grilled barracuda which was also very good. Portion sizes are not big and the wine list is fairly small.

17/08/2024: Wonderful night at Principe. We came in late without reservation. The restaurant was full and the staff very busy. After five minutes we got a freshly cleaned and prepared table and were ready for fantastic night. We decided to go for a shared starter with a localized Spritz as aperitif, as mains the fish of the day, once with cold rice salad and humus and once with coconut mash, paired with a local white wine recommendation, as desert the tea cake and chocolate XO together with a local grappa. We have to admit that it was the best food we had so far on the Azores. We have been to good places in Angra do Heroísmo and Ponta Delgada before, but Principe is the best. Do not expect giant portions or hearty plates. Principe’s chef is all about providing a slightly different and more detailed experience to food. The team was also very welcoming, helpful and made us feel as if we were part of the family. It was a delicious, fun and wonderful night out.
