Doris Bar em Ponta Delgada

Nice little bar tucked away at the beginning of the not very attractive concrete inner harbour wall. We utilised it a few times during our two weeks stay in Ponta Deldaga, primarily because in the summer months this one benefits from an outside table section under a large umbrella next to the sea, which expands the inside seating and provides a nice waterside vista of the sea and the hotels that line this section of the sea front. We used it both at lunchtime, due to its proximity to the public sea swimming area and also in the evenings for a final drink due to its proximity to our hotel, which we could look at from the outside seating. At lunchtime they do a limited small tapas menu, which was just right for us, and the red wine Sangria came stuffed with frozen berries. Unfortunately it wasn’t the same in the evening, when the bar staff were too hassled to put that level of detail into it, but this bar still came with the big advantage of being significantly lower cost that our hotel bar and my local beer always tasted better with the knowledge that it was a third of the price I would have to pay for it back in the hotel.

A nice bar to sit and chill in the sun. We stopped here a couple of times during our holiday, both just for drinks. I had a very fruity Sangria which was lovely. Get a table by the harbour edge and watch the crabs on the rocks, the fish in the sea and locals taking a dip in the harbour.
