Octopus was extremely chewy. Goat was overly salted. Beef was very good. Very tender and prepared well. Potatoes were good. But were served with each meat coarse. Waiters were friendly and attentive. My card was an issue but owner was helpful and got it to work.
We ranked this dinner #11 of our sixteen dinners in Portugal. It was the seventh of nine spots we rated with four stars. We had a fine meal here, but it was an odd dining experience. This out-of-center restaurant in Coimbra was a favorite of friends. Its wood cooked meats were tasty. But we were the only four diners in the restaurant. Our Coimbra guide, who commended the food here as well, said it had priced itself out of reach for its local, non-tourist, trade.
