21/10/2024: Wir haben uns spontan für dieses Restaurant entschieden. Wir wurden vom Gastgeber sehr freundlich empfangen. Das Angebot ist klein was für eine frische Küche steht. Er empfahl uns das Chateaubriand für 2 Personen auf dem heissen Stein, welches wir auch bestellt haben. Schöne Präsentation des Fleisches und Erklärung wie man es am besten gart. Das Fleisch war zart wie Butter und die Beilagen sehr schmackhaft. Die drei Weinempfehlungen wurde uns am Tisch präsentiert und wir entschieden uns für den Hauswein. Zum Dessert bestellten wir zwei Espresso Martinis welche das rundum stimmige Erlebniss perfekt abrundeten.

10/10/2024: My husband and I came to cachalote with fan in hand as there was an unprecedented heatwave on the island. Yes I am the woman mentioned in the below review by Melissa. As all of the restaurants were suffering from the heatwave it was expected that it would be warm but the fan was able to address the issue. There was a small portable ac doing its best. Many of these traditional, historical buildings are unable to support large air conditioning systems so it is something to be aware of. Frank did his best, serving as quickly as possible, as the dinner is not just food but he cooks each steak individually at the table. Azorean spend a lot of time at dinner so waiting for this feast is expected and worth it. This is our favorite place for steak on the island and will continue to visit as long as it is here.
