Restaurante Adega das Levadas

20/12/2024: We had a chance to visit local adegas in Azores but never one in Madeira so it was cool to get this local experience. The place is very scenic too and it's away from other buildings/town making the visit even more pleasant. An added bonus is that it's really on the way to some very nice vista points on the west coast so you can easily combine the visit.
The gentlemen that owns this adega gave us some wine samples, and his rum as well - this is not the "Madeira" wine you are thinking off but more traditional version of wine but I wouldn't call it red wine either - it's more of a fruity type of wine, it's hard to describe, we didn't love it nor hate it, just not our thing, but that rum! I took 2 bottles with me! We paid cash for everything and the prices were very reasonable
The drip from the main road is fine so don't worry about the arrival - we had an SUV but I would easily take the drive in a small passenger car as well
27/10/2024: Óptimo, excelente. O ambiente é propício a um jantar de família, muito sossegado, a decoração do restaurante está a condizer com as ementas disponibilizadas. As pessoas, dono inclusivé são extremamente simpáticas. A carne das espetadas é divinal !

09/10/2024: Excellent lunch. Enjoyed Portuguese garlic bread followed by prawn and shrimp risotto. The delicious sangria contained lots of fruit. We had coffee on the terrace with a beautiful view of the golf course and sea. Our waitress Denise was very attentive and friendly.
26/08/2024: Well, it is a Golf Club, but not as we know it Jim, it's a really good restaurant. Never been here in 15 years because we thought it was a Golf Club and I'd left my shirts and pants in England, (not much call for them in PS). Couples, families with kids and groups of friends in residence. Free shuttle bus there and back from Campo de Baixo, T-shirt and shorts and trainers, decent ones though, and well looked after by Renata. Lovely setting with a great view over Campo de Baixo up towards Vila Baleira. Plenty of choice on the, what I think is reasonably priced for Porto Santo, menu. The seafood Risotto and Mousse de Maracuja were fine. Will definitely return.

20/10/2024: Local acolhedor com muitas plantas e uma decoração tradicional. Comemos uma espetada que estava muito saborosa embora para o preço merecesse umas batatas fritas sem ser congeladas e uma salada com mais duma rodela de tomate. Atendimento pouco agradável por uma das funcionárias que nos fez sentir desconfortáveis.

20/11/2024: Wir kommen seit 9 Jahren nach Porto Santo. In der Zwischenzeit leben wir auf Madeira und kommen 2 Mal pro Jahr nach Porto Santo. Früher war es ein gutes Restaurant, aber nach Corona hat es ganz stark abgegeben. Wir waren jetzt wieder dort, aber ich denke es war das letzte Mal. Wir wollten einen Fisch, aber sie hatten nur einen Fisch mit 1.6 kg und das war zu viel. Sonst haben sie uns noch 2 Päckchen mit eingeschweissten Fischteilen gezeigt. Auch wollten wir eine Flasche Garinha, aber die war auch nicht mehr verfügbar. Wir haben dann 2 Bier und ein Bolo do Caco genommen. Bis das gekommen ist, haben wir in einem anderen Restaurant gebucht. Die Rechnung mit 9.40 Euro ist dann doch relativ hoch ausgefallen. Als Rechnung wurde uns ein Papier ohne Restaurant Name, ohne Datum und IVA gegeben. Anscheinend hat die Kasse nicht funktioniert. Es ist traurig, dass so ein Restaurant an dem besten Platz in Porto Santo so schlecht geworden ist. Der Service geht runter, die Qualität des Essens ist nicht die beste, aber der Preis ist rauf gegangen.
25/10/2024: Lovely food, great service and prices in a wonderful beachfront location. Enjoyed leisurely lunches here both in August and October. No matter how busy they were, it was always service with a smile. Highly recommended the prawn and fish rice!

28/06/2024: Wir haben gegrillte Shrimps bestellt. Es kamen gekochte. Danach bekamen wir unsere gegrillten Shrimps (waren gut und die Sauce auch). Des Weiteren hatten wir Napfschnecken, die nichts besonderes waren. Als Hauptspeise haben wir uns für eine Pizza Pesto mit Anchovis entschieden. Es kam eine Pizza, bei der der Teig noch nicht durch war. Besser noch, ohne Anchovis. Nachdem wir dies reklamierten, kam der sehr bemühte und freundliche indische Kellner mit einem Teller mit 4 kalten Anchovis. Wir haben uns dann entschieden die Pizza nicht zu essen und haben diese zurück gegeben. Unser Trost lag dann bei 2 Flaschen Weißwein, der vorzüglich war (Casal García). Da kann man nicht viel falsch machen! Also werden wir dieses Lokal leider nicht weiterempfehlen können.

16/10/2024: Wow, what a lovely restaurant. The food was amazing. We had half a Bolo do Caco with garlic butter to start and the camembert, which were both delicious. Then I had the beef skewers and my husband had the lamb chops, again, tasty and excellent quality, all washed down with a bottle of local Maderian Rose. A great ambience, friendly professional service and tasty food. 5 stars, I would thoroughly recommend.
09/10/2024: Tudo óptimo. Destaque para a espetada e as batatas fritas. Serviço atencioso, bom serviço de vinha mas carta curta e com preços altos.
