20/10/2024: I had been so looking forward to this restaurant, but it was such a disappointment. The starters were nice, not particularly special but fine. A pumpkin soup and duck breast. The bread was very good, with nice olive oil and mushroom butter, great. Then the main courses. Swordfish with coriander cream and lemon rice with shrimp. Well, that turned out to be the cataplana, a fish stew with two unpleasant slimy shrimp, old swordfish, tough with skin, just not good, tasteless sauce, and way too much rice. Just call it what it is, the English translation doesn’t match, and on the Portuguese menu, it’s labeled differently too. I come here expecting something special, and it’s a poorly executed traditional dish from the humble kitchen. After one bite, I was done. My companion had magret de canard, tasty but not exciting—cold mushrooms and lukewarm potato slices. Eu estava tão ansiosa por este restaurante, mas foi uma decepção. As entradas foram agradáveis, não particularmente especiais, mas boas. Sopa de abóbora e peito de pato. O pão era muito bom, com azeite de oliva e manteiga de cogumelos, ótimo. Então os pratos principais. Espadarte com creme de coentro e arroz de limão com camarão. Bem, isso acabou sendo a cataplana, um guisado de peixe com dois camarões desagradáveis e viscosos, espadarte velho, duro com pele, simplesmente ruim, molho sem sabor, e arroz demais. Simplesmente chamem isso pelo que é, a tradução em inglês não combina, e no menu português, é rotulado de forma diferente também. Venho aqui esperando algo especial e é um prato tradicional mal executado da cozinha humilde. Após uma mordida, já tinha terminado. Meu companheiro pediu magret de canard, saboroso, mas sem emoção — cogumelos frios e rodelas de batata mornas.

17/09/2024: Comida muito saborosa, pratos inovadores. Staff muito simpatico e muito disponiveis no aconselhamento e explicacao dos pratos. Nao perca a prova do costeletao e do gelado frito.

29/09/2024: Procuramos este restaurante pela crítica positiva. Tivemos azar. Tem uma localização agradável, com esplanada. Serviço simpático. Cozinha muito demorada e prato pedido, choco panado, duro! Não vamos repetir.

28/09/2024: Un sitio peculiar, entramos nos sentamos y nos atendió una señora que hacía todo, tomar comandas y cocinar. Comida casera y rica, 100% recomendable.

29/11/2024: Fui en una noche de noviembre. El restaurante estaba vacío. Los precios en el menú eran bastante caros, pero dije, ok, la comida podría ser bueno para ese precio... Pedí pollo con patatas fritas y ensalada por 22 euros. Tenía 4 piezas de pollo que era para la mayoría de los huesos, piezas muy saladas y secas. Las papas fritas eran directamente del congelador y la ensalada era un corte de tomate con dos rodajas de cebolla. Por tal precio esperaba al menos patatas fritas caseras con más pollo. Fue horrible. Cuando me quejé, dije que por ese precio habría tenido el doble de esa porción en una tienda de kebabs. Dije que acabo de pagar por la vista. No se les podía molestar, dan un 10% menos para pagar 🙄. Me dijeron que era el pollo tradicional portugués. ¡Sería tan agradable empezar a respetar a los clientes! No somos gente ignorante. Mi padre es chef así que tener esa clase de respuesta me hierve la sangre. Este restaurante es una estafa y son ladrones, no vayas allí. Haga un picnic y coma en esta hermosa playa. Este restaurante estaría lleno si fuera administrado por personas respetables. ¡Qué vergüenza!

25/10/2024: Het uitzicht is echt prachtig, maar het eten is waardeloos en duur. Dus ga er zitten en bestel een water. Voor het eten kan je beter ergens anders heen.

03/01/2025: 《Mirandus à Lagos 》 Today is January 1, 2025, precisely at 12:30 PM. We have an appointment by the sea in Lagos, Portugal, at a place I called the “Red House” during the COVID-19 pandemic. This place, which brought me so much comfort during those difficult years, remains etched in my memory. To escape the severe health crisis in Paris, I chose Lagos, Portugal, as my haven of peace. The quiet life in the countryside by the sea gave me some of my most beautiful memories. I spent my time visiting quaint little restaurants, enjoying teas, coffees, or small snacks. The “Red House” was one of my favorite spots, especially for its aperitifs, desserts, and coffee, which I always sipped in three small gulps—each one an absolute delight. It was during this time that my series L’Aria Orientales X: 《C’est la vie》, a collection of short stories, came to life. It became my companion during those years of solitude and distress. Today, after the world reopened, I’ve returned. The landscape remains unchanged, just as magnificent as before. But the restaurant staff has completely turned over. Those warm, friendly, and familiar faces from before have all disappeared, replaced by a new team, as if the entire world had changed. And yet, people still long for love and peace. However, the waitress (her) refused, under various pretexts, to allow our family—composed of young and old—to sit inside the restaurant to shield ourselves from the freezing cold, even though it was empty. Instead, we were forced to stay outside, exposed to a biting wind. Her attitude was truly unpleasant. If only she had offered a tiny smile, even just a little warmth in her demeanor, it would have made all the difference! Changing things is actually so simple: just smile. Smile! Always and forever, smile! Such is life. God has given you a smile, and if you choose to embrace it, your life will be filled with smiles. Otherwise, the opposite will be true. Nous avons rendez-vous au bord de la mer, à Lagos, au Portugal, dans cet endroit que j’appelais la “Maison Rouge” pendant la covid-19 ,Cet endroit, qui m’a tant réconfortée pendant ces années difficiles, reste gravé dans ma mémoire. Pour échapper à la grave crise sanitaire de Paris, j’avais choisi Lagos, au Portugal, comme mon havre de paix. La vie tranquille à la campagne, au bord de la mer, m’a offert mes plus beaux souvenirs. Je passais mon temps entre quelques restaurants pittoresques, où je savourais des thés, des cafés ou de petites collations. La “Maison Rouge” était l’un de mes lieux favoris, notamment pour ses apéritifs, ses desserts, et son café que je sirotais en trois petites gorgées, à chaque fois un véritable délice. Aujourd’hui, après la réouverture, je suis revenue. Le paysage est resté identique, tout aussi magnifique qu’avant. Mais le personnel du restaurant a complètement changé. Ces visages chaleureux, amicaux et familiers d’autrefois ont tous disparu, remplacés par une équipe différente, comme si le monde entier avait changé. Les gens aspirent toujours à l’amour, à la paix. Cependant, la serveuse (elle), sous divers prétextes, a refusé que notre famille, composée de jeunes et d’anciens, s’installe à l’intérieur du restaurant, bien que celui-ci soit vide, pour nous abriter du froid glacial. Nous avons été contraints de rester à l’extérieur, exposés à un vent mordant, et son attitude était franchement désagréable. Si seulement elle avait eu un tout petit sourire, ne serait-ce qu’un peu de chaleur dans son comportement, cela aurait fait toute la différence ! Changer les choses est en réalité si simple : il suffit de sourire. Sourire ! Encore et toujours sourire ! La vie, c’est ainsi. Dieu t’a offert un sourire, et si tu choisis de l’adopter, ta vie deviendra une vie pleine de sourires. Sinon, ce sera tout le contraire. 01/01/2025: Are you among the restaurant visitor who only pursuing the desire for a delicious meal, a joy of a culinary pleasure? Or it is of equal importance to you to know that you (the guest) are considered as an honored person who has chosen the place where your trust (money) will be placed, in return for a promised culinary experience, delivered honesty, and morally, revering your personal integrity as well? Otherwise, you risk to end up being just a cash lump, a bite in that business; as the telling goes among the mob: “We love your money, but despise your sweat!” I passed by this restaurant today, curious about its location and splendid ocean view, decided for a short visit, to sense its inside atmosphere. “May I have a look at your book of menus?” I asked a servant at the entrance. His answer came as a surly dismissal of my question; “What is the matter sir? All is listed on our website!”, as to say that I was an ignorant man, who should be learned how to behave. As I persisted on my question, he tossed reluctantly a menu-list toward me to further demonstrate his irritation. Where is this kind of disrespect generated? Is that an inherent character of that individual? Who had to be at work on 1 January 2025? Or part of the culture practised by the boss? The restaurant-owner? Isn’t him who defines the rules of conduct among himself and his staff, and prescribing how to behave toward the random visitors. I trust you will remain sincere with your rule of conducts; as tourist, or as a native living at the vicinity of Mirandus Restaurant.

22/09/2024: Fomos em família e gostamos muito desse restaurante. Lugar agradável a beira mar, boa comida e ótima sangria. Pessoas animadas e um luar incrível. Adoramos.

26/08/2024: Tolles Ambiente an der Promenade. Pizza und Salat klasse. Preis für die Lage super. Eigentlich war die Pizza für mich nicht richtig durch. Musste aber vom Chef selbst erklärt bekommen dass seine Pizza Napolia Art ist und es so richtig ist. Er hat mir eine mehr knusprig zubereitet. Ganz toller Service. Großes Lob Gerne wieder

17/11/2024: Wir sind ebenfalls den Bewertungen zu diesem außergewöhnlichen Restaurant gefolgt, unbedingt reservieren. Es gibt keine Karte, man wird grob nach seinen Präferenzen gefragt und er zaubert was daraus. Exzellentes Essen, eine besondere Art der Bewirtung, Erlebnisgastronomie der speziellen Art, das absolute Gegenteil von Massenabfertigung. Definitiv eine Empfehlung, wer ein bisschen offen ist für Überraschungen wird dieses Lokal mit extravaganten Gastgeber und großartigem Essen lieben.

06/11/2024: Fantastische gastheer/kok. Heeft Onafgebroken heerlijk eten bezorgd. Zijn persoonlijkheid was het grote pluspunt van de avond. Netjes met een behoorlijke knipoog.

29/07/2024: Un restaurant au TOP. On y mange super bien, c'est savoureux, bien servi et peu cher. En plus, les desserts sont juste divins. Je vous le recommande a 100%.

22/09/2024: Ristorante che si prende molto bene , con pietanze ben cucinate e presentate. Consiglio un passaggio in questo ristorante se siete ad lxfactory. I prezzi sono un po’ più alti rispetto alla media ma andandoci capirete il perché.

23/10/2024: Lugar maravilhoso, comida excelente. O melhor bacalhau que já comi. Nota 1000 para tudo, inclusive os funcionários, gentis e educados.

10/10/2024: Lugar discreto, duas portunhas, mas surpreende no sabor dos pratos. Pedimos uma feijoada portuguesa para dois, e um bacalhau. Comemos em 3 pessoas, satisfez a todos. O bacalhau foi o melhor de tudo. A feijoada, para o paladar do brasileiro, tem um sabor puxado a cominho que estranhamos. Mas saborosa e generosa.

16/09/2024: Schlechte Bedienung. Als Deutscher unter alles Holländern auch die Bedienung über eine Stunde aufs Essen gewartet. Kein Brot kein Nichts. Rassismus gibt's auch in Portugal.

22/11/2024: Me encantó, ambiente familiar, pudimos disfrutar mucho con la cena y el fado, incluso unos clientes portugueses se pusieron a cantar y nos invitaron a participar. La comida tradicional y muy rica. Lo mejor el pulpo y el bacalao grellado. Muy recomendable

05/11/2024: Nel complesso sono soddisfatto : cena, atmosfera, Fado . Mettendo insieme tutti questi fattori il risultato è ottimo . Il cibo è discreto , il locale molto piccolo, ma caratteristico . La cantante di fado e musicisti bravi , quindi tutto l'insieme fa sì che si possa trascorrere una piacevole e suggestiva serata .
