03/06/2025: Ponto Final
If you follow Netflix’s “Somebody Feed Phil,” their first episode was set in Portugal and featured a restaurant at the end of the world, aptly named Ponto Final. Trust me, it’s easier to find your way around New York or Manila than this place.
After a ferry ride from Lisbon to Casilhas across the Tagus River, a bus ride where Google made us stop sooner (we should have listened to the old lady who told us to get off later), and navigating through graffiti-infested small alleys, we finally arrived at the edge of a cliff wall, deciding to what seemed like a torn-down cannery. It definitely felt like a scene from The Twilight Zone.
Descending nearly 80 steps, we finally saw those familiar yellow metal tables and chairs. Whew! We made it.
But wait, we had to wait an hour since we couldn’t get reservations. Finally, we got to sit down. This better be good, Phil, or I’ll stop watching Netflix. My sister recommended this place to us as well.
Our grilled sardines and fried horse mackerel were cooked to perfection, but the side of tomato rice was the real surprise. Everything was done just right, and who needs ambiance when you can hear the waves crashing about 10 feet from your table and enjoy the breathtaking view of Lisbon? If you’re lucky, you’ll get that table at the end where you can just fall into the ocean if you had one too many glasses of wine.
Getting back to the ferry was another adventure. Thankfully, the elevator was working (yesterday it wasn’t), and just imagine climbing that cliff wall while full of food.
Other than getting there and back, I would highly recommend Ponto Final for all the right (and even wrong) reasons. It will undoubtedly leave an indelible mark in our memories.
03/06/2025: Review for Ponto Final – The TikTok Viral Restaurant
An unfortunate and frustrating experience from start to finish.
We arrived at 7:40 PM and weren’t seated until 9 PM—nearly 2.5 hours later. Since they don’t take reservations after 7 PM, it’s first come, first served. What they don’t mention is that you’ll need to wait about an hour just to get your name on the list… and then queue again to grab drinks while you wait to be seated. That line took another hour, and we were left standing outside in freezing winds, sharing bread and olives on a stone ledge by the water as the sun set and the cold set in.
After all that waiting, our name was skipped entirely on the waitlist. We watched multiple groups who arrived well after us get seated ahead. When I pointed this out to the gray-haired host (whom everyone seems to rave about), he gave a half-hearted apology and finally seated us—almost three hours after we arrived. Because we had been out in the cold for so long, we asked to be seated inside.
Once inside, we sat for 20 minutes without any acknowledgment. No waiter approached us for drink orders, nothing. It was our last night in Portugal, and we felt invisible.
When we finally placed our order, I opened the menu only to find it covered in black mold. I lost my appetite. I flagged it to our waiter, who didn’t seem to care. Meanwhile, every table around us was getting great service and attention. We felt completely disregarded.
We were seated at 9 PM. Our food didn’t arrive until 10:40 PM—20 minutes before closing. Even then, it came in parts. My partners veal arrived much earlier than expected, and my grilled sardines were delayed another 15–20 minutes after that. I had to flag down a different server—not even ours—to check on our food. Our assigned waiter never once came to check in.
As a waitress from New York, I understand the chaos of busy nights—but this was unacceptable. We rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was so disappointing it felt like a joke. We paid the same as everyone else, yet were treated as if we didn’t matter.
When we brought our concerns to the host at the end of the night, he brushed it off with, “Well, we have good reviews.” That’s not the point. You took our time and money, and our experience didn’t reflect your supposed standards. The arrogance was disheartening.
They comped dessert but still charged for water—what a joke. He blamed how busy the restaurant was, but every other table was properly taken care of. It almost felt personal.
The food was good, but the treatment was honestly heartbreaking. Sadly, we won’t be coming back.

03/11/2025: A comida, infelizmente, não tinha nada de especial, especialmente pelo preço. A tosta era simples e sem sabor, e a combinação com batatas fritas pareceu um pouco estranha e barata. Pelo que foi servido, achei o preço demasiado alto.
O atendimento também deixou a desejar. O empregado deu quase toda a atenção a um grupo grande, e os outros clientes — como eu — tiveram de esperar bastante. Uma pena, porque o restaurante tem potencial, mas com este serviço e comida mediana, não voltarei tão cedo.
03/11/2025: Experiência decepcionante
Visitamos o Barco ontem e pedimos duas torradas com ovo e atum. Cada uma custou €14, o que achamos muito caro para o que foi servido. As porções eram pequenas e a comida bastante básica — definitivamente não valia o preço.
O serviço também foi decepcionante. Embora houvesse muitos funcionários, eles deram pouca atenção aos clientes. Demorou muito para que nosso pedido fosse anotado e ainda mais para recebermos a conta. Toda a experiência pareceu lenta e desorganizada.
É um local agradável com potencial, mas tanto a qualidade da comida quanto o serviço precisam de melhorias significativas antes que eu possa recomendá-lo.

30/05/2025: Pescado fresco muy bien hecho. Precio contenido. Salón acogedor. Muy buen servicio. Una pena que no tengan leche de soja para terminar el café.
10/05/2025: Comimos aquí dos veces durante una estancia de 5 noches en Matosinhos. Muy buen pescado, cocinado y servido en un estilo portugués básico que depende de la calidad del producto en lugar de salsas, etc.
El Turbot ( 1. 52 kg bruto) fue encantador compartido entre dos. El vino blanco de la casa era realmente pescado - apropiado y un valor increíble.
Tapa, entrantes, red, 1 l de vino, postre, digestifs y café por 110€ para los dos. Buena relación calidad-precio.
La segunda vez allí, prescindimos de los bocados iniciales de la cubierta - tenía solo pan. Aún mejor valor.

06/08/2025: Restaurante acolhedor e com Staff bastante simpático.
A comida estava divinal, comemos arroz de lingueirão e linguadinhos fritos e estavam muito bons!
De sobremesa provamos a tarde de limão merengada e a tarde de claras, simplesmente inactiveis.
O sistema de lista de chamada, não é perfeito, mas a espera vale a pena.

Comida óptima , a feijoada de lingueirão é extraordinária , os linguados fritos e os filetes de peixe galo são fantásticos .
A torta de batata doce é de ir ao céu .

22/02/2025: The restaurant looks great on entry with fantastic reviews and glorious position. However, once your order your food, choosing your fish with advice, at the fish counter, then the experience disintergrates into a farce! An hour wait for the food. The fish , seabream or sargo, 26 euros, was overcooked and barely enough for one person acopanied by 3 tiny pots of condiments.
We had fish, chips, boiled potatoes, half bottle of wine and a beer and water.
54 euros in total..
The staff were disinterested.
Locals seem to have a completly difference experience, fast service, cheerful staff ! overall, avoid !
20/02/2025: The view was great and the wine was nice. That is about all the positives we can say! It felt like the staff did not want to be there. Not one of them smiled, asked if we were happy with our meal or attentive at all. The bouillabaisse was watery and thin but overall it was the very disappointing service that means we won’t return.

28/05/2025: Sconsiglio vivamente questo ristorante . Avevamo buone aspettative viste le recensioni . Locale bello e accogliente . Cibo scarso e carissimo per le quantità presentate. Le pietanze non erano buone. Antipasti non buoni soprattutto il baccalà era stopposo . Patatefritte riscaldate , filetto nervoso e difficile da masticare . Patanegra buono. E’ stata la peggior cena dopo 5 serate a Lisbona .
22/05/2025: Bell’ambiente, pochi tavoli, non confusione, invitante. Personale super gentile e disponibile, parla ‘anche’ italiano. Ottimi vini e bacala (il trio è da stellato!), anche la carne di maiale (al Porto!) è superlativa. Prezzi comunque buoni. Bene! Avanti così
