The Square by Raquel Marques em Lagoa

A real hidden gem just away from the main town and in a very unassuming location. Everything was excellent from food and drink to service and ambience. It's worth every penny. The food in particular was some of the best we've ever had in a fine dining setting. We ordered a la carte and the waiter recommended a wine to go with our dishes and a delicious port at the end. Dishes pictured are ceviche, duck, white chocolate parfait, prawns, crab, lamb and pork. We also had the gyoza which was also excellent. Staff were knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. Others from our group went the next evening and had the same excellent experience. A must visit while in Carvoiero.

Been very lucky to sample a handful of tasting menus previously. This was one of the best I have ever had, the service to the level of food was astonishing. Would highly recommend to anyone who loves fine food.

Fantastic experience. The food was excellent, enough and with great flavours. We had a very good bottle of white wine. Staff was attentive. The plates were creative and beautiful. 5 stars from the beginning till the end! Thanks a lot!

An excellent dining experience, we enjoyed the 5 moments menu and not disappointed. The staff took great care and attention to ensure we enjoyed our time and helped navigate my wheat and milk intolerance and were able to deviate from some of the dishes to ensure meeting my dietary requirements and our best time. The food is exceptional and service outstanding. We were disappointed that this restaurant now only offers a tasting menu. Whilst all the dishes we tasted were great and the cost is very reasonable, I really miss the original menu. A tasting menu has its place, but in our case we would only visit for special occasions. On our last trip we ate here twice as the food was so great. Please offer some separate dishes too.

Eu e a minha esposa escolhemos o The Square para comemorar uma data especial. Foi a primeira vez que lá fomos e as expetativas eram altas. O espaço em si é agradável mas não nos deslumbrou. Escolhemos o menu de degustação de 5 momentos com harmonização de vinhos. A primeira entrada foi camarão e, sendo nós apreciadores, fomos facilmente conquistados. A segunda entrada era um bife tártaro, do qual eu gostei bastante (a minha esposa não tanto). Primeiro prato: polvo - a minha esposa gostou, mas eu achei um tanto desequilibrado, demasiado doce. Segundo prato: novilho - estavam bastante bem cozinhados, exatamente no ponto que cada um de nós pediu. Por último, a sobremesa era boa, mas não excelente. As quantidades de cada prato são exíguas. Os vinhos servidos com cada prato não foram nada de especial. Os empregados, apesar de simpáticos, eram muito inseguros na apresentação de cada prato. Por isto pagámos 180 Euros. Por este preço, eu espero comida de topo, vinho de topo e uma experiência de topo. Saí satisfeito e não me arrependo, mas queria ter tido uma experiência inesquecível e, efetivamente, não foi o que aconteceu.
