03/09/2024: First visit to Portugal and googled “highly rated, affordable seafood in Matosinhos “ — but on arrival the place we went for was closed. Lucky for us, we wandered post this little spot and heard … “Come! I’m going to cook for you.” And did he ever! We asked chef/owner Peter what his favorite fish is - he said the turbot - so we took that for two. At 80€ it wasn’t inexpensive — but it was a fantastic fish, perfectly prepared. The service was warm, welcoming and attentive in the way of a family dinner. There’s nothing fancy about this small place - it’s a bit gritty, to be honest, but in the best possible way. The food was GREAT and the service really good. Simple. Delicious. It wasn’t just a great meal but a fun experience that I’ll always remember finely
