All i can say is the food (seafood and meat) is as good as it gets. I have visited the Algarve 3 times in 2 years now and make a point of returning here each time even though its been over an hr round trip. The steak and black pork is spectacular and cooked to perfection. Likewise the seafood (we had squid) is grilled perfectly. If these guys were in the main tourist spots they would have a mile long que. The chef and lady running are great hosts also. Keep up the great work guys.

Amazing restaurant with warm, friendly, quirky service! Loved the food, presentation and warmth of the staff. Do not be put off by the facade of Zig Zag, the family friendly dining room is at the rear of the restaurant.

As with previous reviews, we were a little shocked by the exterior façade of the restaurant, but decided to venture inside. The exterior was very much like an English workman’s cafe and was very basic. Upon entering into the restaurant there were actually two workmen dining to add to the effect. We were greeted by our waitress Katya who confirmed our reservation and ushered us through a further door. Upon entering this inner sanctum, we were pleasantly surprised to find a quaint family restaurant. Katya had suggested a mixed grill to share, preceded by a bread basket. The fresh bread was accompanied by pickled carrots, black olives and a delicious home-made crab pâté. We ordered a jug of sangria, which came as a wonderful fruity sangria cava. The main course was brought out by the chef and its presentation was amazing due to a flickering blue flame cascading over the meat. I missed the description due to my amazement, but I know that black pork was one of the many meats on the wooden board as well as superbly cooked steak. These were accompanied by delicious home-made fries. All I can say is that the taste was incredible! We were tempted by dessert and Katya “encouraged “ me to order a pumpkin and almond cake which was absolutely superb. . This was an altogether amazing experience and Katya quite rightly said, “never judge a book by its cover.”
