RC Restaurante em Porto

Angenehmes schönes Ambiente, sehr gute Küche, nicht perfekt, Service ausbaufähig. Mittagessen sehr gut, dann noch Abendessen, wieder sehr ansprechend. Fado toll!! Reservieren.

First night in Porto and struggling to find a restaurant that was not booked out, came across this place and by the overall look of the place thought we were in for a lovely evening. Service is dreadfully slow, the waiters know nothing about the wine, we had veal Chateaubriand which was 2 small bits of veal on a bed of pureed vegetable with either chips or crisps, I am sorry but crisps are not a substitute for potatoes. The Croaker fish dish was not too bad. Before the Fado music started a lady (assume owner) gave a speech in different languages about the history of Fado music and that we must not talk during the experience. Well it went on a while and obviously we did talk a little (quietly)and were told in no uncertain terms during the interval that we must be quiet and not talk by the lady. Our bottle of Rose disappeared because the waiter had bought it away recorked it and put it in a fridge (we finally got it back ), in the middle of the second part of the Fado act someone in the kitchen must have dropped a lot of crockery as there was a loud bang during the music (I am sure they got a really good telling off), we wanted to get the bill to go but the waiters ignored as long as they could until we finally told them that we had to go to meet people (a white lie) to get out of the place. Overall food portions are tiny, no proper potatoes, no idea about wines they are serving and possibly yes the Fado music is enjoyable and a lot of effort goes into it but it may not be everyone´s cup of tea and allowances need to made for that, on our way home that evening we had relabeled it "Faulty Towers".
