Petisqueira Don Tasko em Castelo Branco

20/05/2024: Small restaurant with heart full of love This is definitely not the story about some fancy restaurant, no, not at all. This is a story about small family restaurant in which everybody is served by the love and care. Even if doesn't seems like at the first view. If you expect some fancy service and exclusive treatment of the staff, this is not place for you. But if you want to meet a real Portuguese people and if you want to eat a really good meal, like in your mother's kitchen you have to find it. Correction: - You must find it and go there. You will find in the Santiago restaurant all kind of people. Construction workers, officers, clerks, tourists, some intellectuals hard to define, eldery and yoth the whole families, singles, almost all kind of people. But nobody will bother you. The atmosphere is relaxed just like in your dining room and from the kitchen you can feel the nice smell of domestic food. If you don't have time for waiting the service, please don't go there because this is not place for you. If you have time to meet the real Portugal, you MUST be there if you will visit Castelo Branco. When the waiter will arrive, he wouldn't just offer you the menu, he will ask you "what would you like to eat". If you will come the next day and the next one, as I did during the five days of may stay in Castelo Branco, the waiter will know exactly what he will offer you, and his mother – the chef will prepare the meal just for you, according to her son’s instructions. The prices are very cheap, but the care which these people will give you is priceless. I wish them a good luck, because during the five days I spent in Castelo Branco, we almost became friends.
