O Cachalote Restaurante em Angra do Heroísmo

My husband and I came to cachalote with fan in hand as there was an unprecedented heatwave on the island. Yes I am the woman mentioned in the below review by Melissa. As all of the restaurants were suffering from the heatwave it was expected that it would be warm but the fan was able to address the issue. There was a small portable ac doing its best. Many of these traditional, historical buildings are unable to support large air conditioning systems so it is something to be aware of. Frank did his best, serving as quickly as possible, as the dinner is not just food but he cooks each steak individually at the table. Azorean spend a lot of time at dinner so waiting for this feast is expected and worth it. This is our favorite place for steak on the island and will continue to visit as long as it is here.

The reviews were spot on. We went and were not disappointed. Frank was great., he visited every table made recommendations,took you over to pick a bottle of wine. Every table that got the steak on a stone was personally cut by him. Food was fantastic. If you are in Angra go see Frank...
