Moinho Cafe and Bar em Lagos

Friendly staff with reasonable prices for a tourist town. In general very good with one exception for each time I ate there. My first was a combo of pork and chicken skewers. The char was nice but a little seasoning would have gone a long way. Good size meal and price but the pork was overcooked. If you order this I would suggest you ask for medium or medium well unless you like well well done! Charcuterie tapas was very good but could have used some bread. Otherwise I was quite happy with the place. Semms to do very little business in the evening but still nice for a drink.

We saw the beautiful windmill on our 1st day in Lagos when we drove past whilst on a tuktuk tour. A few days later, we asked our son if there was anywhere he had seen where he would like to go for a long lunch so we could escape the heat. He chose this place as he wanted to get some photos after being impressed with it during our drive past. Well... What a fab choice it was. The lovely Portuguese lady who served us was warm and informative. She told us there were some items from the menu which weren't available as they'd sold out earlier in the day and that they buy everything fresh daily so there's no frozen food. (great!) My son chose the chicken kebab which come with chips and salad, my husband had a mixed grill, and I had half chicken with salad and chips. Our meals were cooked perfectly, the quality of the produce was outstanding, our seating under the shade of the pretty trees was cool and had the nicest, most-chilked out atmosphere, and we stayed for longer than planned (with the help of a litre of green wine) as it was so lovely. It really is a special little place, away from the tourist traps downtown and our only regret was that we didn't find it earlier in our holiday. Our 3 meals, 2 x soft drinks and litre of wine came to around 40 Euros which was amazing value for the quality, service, and setting. Do yourself a favour and walk a few minutes up the hill ftom downtown to experience a peaceful little gem.
