Caravela em Alcoutim

On our recent trip to Tavira we stumbled across this little snack bar/ restaurant by chance as we were heading home and are so glad we did. It is about ten minutes walk from the centre of Tavira and in a very quiet part of town. It is owned and run by Lee from Liverpool who is such a nice guy and who offers fantastic value in his restaurant which is why it is primarily full of local Portuguese customers. The first night we were there was just for a pit stop and we had 2 white coffees, 2 brandies and a bica and the bill came to €6.50 euros. A few nights later we went for dinner and for the first time ever I had pigs cheeks which Lee recommended which were amazing and so full of meat and my wife had a cod dish done in the oven which again was really tasty. Every day as well as his normal menu, Lee puts on a special dish which only costs €8 euros and is a fish and a meat dish which is amazing value. Our bill for the 2 special dishes, 2 pints and 2 gins and tonic came to a ridiculous €28 euros and was outstanding value. Lee is a really lovely guy who deserves to be successful and if you can, find his place and have a really great time.

Great place for traditional portugese food, good selection of tapas, and a plate of the day. My always go to when it Tavira for food and drink
