Located near the Terra-Nostra Park in Furnas, you'll find the wonderful restaurant A Terra, which is part of the Octant Furnas Hotel. The restaurant impresses with its stylish decor, abundant greenery, and inviting ambiance. What stood out to me in particular is that they offer not only traditional burgers but also plant-based alternatives. We tried both a meat and a plant-based burger, and both were excellent. The drinks are also worth mentioning – the glasses were not only impressively designed, but the drinks themselves were also extremely tasty.

Visitamos as furnas e a hora de almoço esticou-se para tarde ficando com as alternativas de restaurantes limitadas. Chegamos por volta das 15:00 ao hotel mas o restaurante ainda estava bastente movimentado. Tornando isso o único ponto negativo. A quantidade de staff disponível fez com que esperassemos bastante. Fora isso os pratos foram bem conseguidos. A massada de peixe estava muito boa e o hamburger também. O espaço é bonito e agradável.

07/06/2024: Probably deserves a 3.5. My cheese plate was better than expected, with plenty of cheese (enough to bring home for lunch the next day) , as well as plenty of fresh bread, some rolled up lunch meat, and a tiny jar of jam. But my husband was disappointed in his plate of tuna, vegetables and potato. He’s had the exact same type of meal at several restaurants on this trip, and this preparation was not as good as the others. Both indoor and outdoor seating is available.

22/08/2024: This was a wonderful experience, extremely informative. Paula was a wonderful host, super knowledgeable. I highly recommend this experience.
12/07/2024: Paula and Rich are both professors with deep and rich experience in everything about the Azores. Their collective knowledge of chemistry, ecology, sociology, history and business make this experience an absolute MUST DO when you visit Sao Miguel. We did the geothermal cuisine brunch and learned an incredible amount. We enjoyed a four-course meal of extremely tasty food as well as local teas brewed with different waters and at different temperatures. All of the food was cooked in the nearby caldera over several hours. Book your experience super early as they sell out fast (which is no wonder because they are amazing). They do remind you of this on the confirmation email — but do remember to bring cash to the experience. They don’t accept cards. You can park your car just up the hill from the place and it’s an easy walk down. There is a public restroom by the car park.
